Frederick County Crime of the Week - December 28, 2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary and grand larceny at Dominion Self Storage, located at 373 Tasker Road in Stephens City, Virginia.  On December 7, 2009, the owner reported that the security fence had been damaged and two trailers, one motor home and one storage unit had been broken into and damaged.  Numerous firearms and ammunition, valued at $15,000-$20,000, miscellaneous jewelry, 2 desktop computers, and a router were reported missing from the storage unit.

Winchester Crime of the Week – December 21, 2009

 

Date of Crime: November 4, 2009 & December 13, 2009

Location: Kmart, 1675 S Pleasant Valley Rd

Type of Crime: Larceny of Jewelry

The Kmart in Winchester, VA has had numerous jewelry items stolen by the same suspect on two different occasions.  The suspect is possibly a very light skinned black male.  He has a stocky build, about 5’7” tall, possibly in his 30’s.  He has a beard and wears dark framed glasses.  He has been seen wearing hooded sweatshirts, black skull cap, and jeans. 

 

On November 4, 2009 he took men’s rings and on December 13, 2009 he took necklaces from a display case.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - December 14, 2009

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary that occurred on November 29, 2009, at the American Legion located at 1730 Berryville Pike.  It was reported that unknown suspect(s) entered the business by prying open the deadbolt on a south side door.  Inventory was taken and nothing was found to be missing.  Damage to the door is estimated at more than $100.00.

Winchester Crime of the Week – December 7, 2009

Date of Crime: November 15, 2009              Location: 1st block of West Bond St

Type of Crime: Motor Vehicle Theft

The victim reported coming home to find that her black 1990 Toyota 4Runner was missing.  Law enforcement officers located the vehicle in the early morning hours of November 15, 2009 after it had been involved in a single vehicle accident just off of Route 11 in Berkley County, WV.  A witness saw the vehicle strike a telephone pole and a male run from the scene.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - November 30, 2009

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the death of Monte Feltner of 472 Stephenson Road in Frederick County, Virginia.  Mr. Feltner was found deceased from a gunshot wound to the head in his home on September 15, 2006.

Winchester Crime of the Week – November 23, 2009

 

Date of Crime:  November 9, 2009

Location: Valley Pediatric Dentistry- 650-205 Cedar Creek Grade

Type of Crime: Breaking & Entering

Officers responded to an alarm at approximately 4:20 am to find that the front door window had been broken at the Valley Pediatric Dentistry office. The office is located at 650 Cedar Creek Grade, Suite 205.  Upon further inspection, officers noticed that a cashbox was missing.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - November 16, 2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an armed robbery that occurred at the Kentucky Fried Chicken located at 113 Town Run Lane in Stephens City, Virginia.  On October 20, 2009, the manager at the store entered a car with the store deposit to go to the bank.  As she was seated, a male approached her, grabbed her mouth with one hand and squirted an irritating solution into her eyes with the other hand.  He removed the deposit from the passenger seat and fled on foot in a southeasterly direction.  He was described as wearing a dark colored knit mask and a dark hoodie.

Winchester Crime of the Week – November 9, 2009

 

Date of Crime:  October 7-28, 2009

Location: N Loudoun St, N.Braddock St, and Wolfe St.

Type of Crime: Property Damage

Several residents in the area of N Loudoun St, N. Braddock St, and Wolfe St.have reported that during the night they have awoken to the sound of someone pushing their air conditioners into their residences.  No entry has been made by the suspect(s) into these residences, but there has been damage to the windows and air conditioners.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - November 2, 2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a home invasion at 116 Rebecca Drive on October 17, 2009.  At approximately 1:45 p.m. two armed gunmen entered the residence and tied up the female resident, her two teenage children and one adult child.  The intruders demanded to know where the money was kept, then went through the home stealing several items of electronics and jewelry.  The gunmen are described as two black males, one being light-skinned, younger, 5’8” and slender, wearing a ball cap with logo.  The second was described as older, darker skinned, heavier and taller than the first, and wearing a skull type cap.

Winchester Crime of the Week – October 26, 2009

Location: Cash for Gold (1850 Apple Blossom Dr)

Type of Crime: Grand Larceny

After the Apple Blossom Mall closed on September 24, 2009 someone entered the Cash For Gold stand and took a set of keys, the business phone, and the safe containing money.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - October 19, 2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the theft of two recreational vehicles during the month of September, 2009.  On September 10, 2009, the victim reported that his 2000 Yamaha Big Bear ATV, green in color, was stolen from a shed behind his house.  On September 18, 2009, Deputies responded to an alarm at Tractor Supply located at 150 Getty Lane.  The manager reported a Carbie Reverse 150cc, model 7150 go‑cart had been taken.  This vehicle is red and black in color with a fox’s head logo on the front.

Winchester Crime of the Week – October 11, 2009

Locations: Winchester Ford (1911 Valley Ave), Kern Motor Company (2110 Valley Ave), Parsons Chrysler Plymouth (2525 Valley Ave)

Type of Crime: Larceny of wheels

Sometime overnight on September 30- October 1, 2009, someone moved a red Mazda 6 from the front lot of Winchester Ford to the back lot where they raised the vehicle on jacks and attempted to remove 2 wheels.  Wheels have been taken from other car lots including Kern Motor Company over the weekend of August 22-24, 2009 and Parsons Chrysler Plymouth over the holiday weekend of September 5-8, 2009.  If you should have any information in reference to these or any other crimes, please contact the Crime Solvers Hotline at (540) 665 – TIPS.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - October 5, 2009

.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Armed Robbery of the Rappahannock National Bank located at 1095 Millwood Pike on August 6, 2009.  The suspect is a black male, 20-30 years of age, 5’10”-6’, approximately 200 lbs., wearing a hat, sunglasses, a half-face camo mask, long sleeve white and blue plaid shirt and dark colored military style fatigue pants.  He had a shaved head and was carrying a handgun.  The suspect fled on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.  A black Grand Am or Grand Prix may have been involved.

Clarke County Crime of the Week - October 5, 2009

The Clarke County Sheriff's Office is currently investigating a Breaking &
Entering/ Grand Larceny from Spyglass Tactical Firearms. The incident
occurred sometime between Friday Oct.2 and Sunday Oct. 4, 2009. The
subject(s)made entry through a rear window and disabled the alarm system.
Several firearms, firearm accessories, ammunition, and tools were taken.
The total loss sustained by the business is in excess of $100,000.00.

Location: Richard King Heating & Air Conditioning (2741 S Pleasant Valley Rd) 

Type of Crimes:  Breaking & Entering, Larceny

Frederick County Crime of the Week - September 21, 2009

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is a burglary and grand larceny in the 100 block of Dominion Drive and another at the  149 block of  Stephenson Road.  Both of these incidents occurred during the time frame of August 18th to September 7, 2009.  In each incident numerous firearms were taken, including a 30.06 bolt action with scope, a Remington .22 caliber bolt action, a Winchester Model 37 .12 gauge, a Colt .38 revolver, a Remington .270 bolt action, a .270 pump action 7600 shotgun, a Western Fields .16 gauge shotgun, a gun safe, an unknown quantity of change and other miscellaneous firearms.

Carke County Crime of the Week - September 14,2009

T

This week’s Crime of the Week has to do with a homicide. The Berryville Police Department, Clarke County Sheriff's Office and Virginia State Police are investigating a Homicide that occurred in the Town of Berryville.  

On July 30, 2009 Berryville Town Council Woman, Gail Smith was found dead in her residence located on Pickett Court in the town of Berryville, VA. It was determined that Councilwoman Smith was the victim of a violent crime.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - September 7, 2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the burglary and grand larceny at Clear Brook Pool, located at 130 Poolside Drive and at the American Baseball Little League office at Clear Brook Park.  These incidents occurred between August 16th and 17th, 2009.  The pool concession stand and office were forcibly entered, but no items were reported missing.  The baseball office above the concession stands at Clear Brook park was also forcibly entered and six (6) baseball bats and an unknown amount of cash was removed.

Winchester Crime of the Week – August 31, 2009

Crimes occurred around these dates:  January 1, 2009, March 7, 2009, April 1, 2009, August 23, 2009

Locations: Center Cinemas (601 E Jubal Early Dr)and Cinema VI (1850 Apple Blossom Dr)

Type of Crimes: Larceny

The coin change machines located inside the businesses were found to have been pried open and/or had the locks drilled out on 4 separate occasions.  Money was missing from the machines.  The suspect possibly has access to the  businesses after hours. Frederick County Crime of the Week - August 24, 2009

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the larceny of a 4-wheeler from the 1900 block of Senseny Road between August 15th and 16th, 2009.  The 4-wheeler was secured with a heavy linked chain and two locks, which had been cut to remove it from the residence.  The vehicle is described as a 2001 white Banji, with a white body, black seat, red front plate, fenders had two black stripes and one red stripe running horizontal and is valued at $4,500.00.

Winchester Crime of the Week – August 17, 2009 

Date of Crime:  July 4, 2009

Location: Walmart (2350 S Pleasant Valley Rd)

Type of Crime: Explosive Device

On July 4, 2009 at approximately 1813 hours, the suspect vehicle with two white occupants inside tossed a chemical bottle bomb near the east entrance doors of Walmart - 2350 S. Pleasant Valley Road, Winchester, VAwhere it exploded.  No one was injured.  The suspect vehicle:

 

Vehicle Type  -  1999-2005 Chevrolet S10

Color -   Black, Dark Green or Dark Blue

Noted Features - Smoked wind deflectors on front windows, smoke colored bug shield, chrome bed rails, painted bumpers, standard rims.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - August 10, 2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating numerous larcenies from vehicles that occurred in the Stephens City area in the time frame of July 26, through 28, 2009.  These larcenies occurred in the 100 blocks of Oxford Court, Vincent Drive,  Button Bush Avenue,  Caspian Way and Owens Lane. Alsotwo times in the  300 block of Cheltenham Drive, .  The items taken included wallets, ATM cards, change, Garmin GPS units, an IPod and a HP Compact laptop, Model No. 6735B.

Winchester Crime of the Week – August 3, 2009

 

Date of Crime:  June 12, 209

Location: Wendy’s (1100 Berryville Ave)

Type of Crime: Breaking and Entering

On June 12, 2009 employees opened the restaurant to find that someone had entered during the night, left furniture in the dining area in disarray, and took money from the safe.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - July 27, 2009

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary and grand larceny at Red Apple Deli located at 152 Fairfax Pike on July 12, 2009.  Unknown suspects forcibly entered the business by breaking the glass in the front door.  The only items reported missing were cartons of cigarettes valued at more than $3,600.00.  In a related matter, Advance Auto located at 201 Fairfax Pike reported two gray trash cans missing from the front of their store during the same time frame.

Winchester Crime of the Week - July 20,2009 

Date of Crime:  August 1, 2008

Location: 100 block of E Piccadilly St

Type of Crime: Robbery/Credit Card Fraud

On 8/1/08 the victim was assaulted in the 100 block of E Piccadilly St in Winchester and later discovered that his wallet was missing.  His credit cards were then used by the suspects at several businesses in Winchester.  The suspects can be seen in the video. 

 

The female is described as W/F, blonde hair, 5’4”-5’7”, heavy build, wearing a black tank top and white shorts, has an unknown tattoo on her right shoulder.

The male is described as W/M, brown hair, 6’-6’2”, heavy build, wearing a blue polo and tan shorts, has a tattoo on the back of his neck with an unknown word.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - July 13,2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating an attempted robbery at the Fashion Bug located at 420 Gateway Drive.  On July 2, 2009, the business received a call on their store phone.  At the time of the call, the clerk was working outside the store at a sidewalk sale.  The caller demanded that the clerk retrieve money from the cash register and place it in a location he directed outside.  The clerk complied while other employees called the Sheriff’s Office and Deputies were dispatched.  The money was recovered prior to being taken.

Winchester Crime of the Week - July 6, 2009

 

Date of Crime:  June 14, 2009

 

Location: 900 block of Orchard Avenue & 600 block of National Avenue

 

Type of Crime: Arson

 

In the early morning hours of June 14, 2009 two separate incidents of arson

were reported.  In the 900 block of Orchard Avenue witnesses heard an explosion and then observed a fire in a grassy area between two buildings nearby.  The suspects possibly left the area in a red vehicle.  Later that morning a resident on National Avenue discovered that his flagpole had been broken and the flag had been torn and burned in the yard. Both incidents appear to be related.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - June 29, 2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary and grand larceny from Shade Equipment, located at 1237 Martinsburg Pike.

Deputies responded to an alarm sounding at the business on June 21, 2009.  Upon arrival, they discovered the front window had been broken and the front door had been damaged.  The only item taken was a Pramac Generator, lime green in color, Model No. P11700, Serial No. P065052, valued at $1,000.00.

Winchester Crime of the Week – June 22, 2009

Location:  300 block of Woodstock Lane

Type of Crime:  Assault by Mob 

On March 24, 2009  the victim got into a physical fight  with another male.  Several other males joined the conflict and all punched and kicked the victim and one possibly used a stick.  The victim sustained severe facial injuries.

The suspects were described as:

  1. black male, athletic build, 6’, 25-30 years old, had a clean-cut hairstyle, was wearing baggy clothes

  2. Hispanic male

  3. Hispanic male

  4. black male

  5. black male

The suspects left the area in a cream colored pick-up truck with a camper top.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - June 15,2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the Armed Robbery of Advance America, located at 240 Rivendell Court on June 10, 2009.  On that date, a lone male entered the business and displayed a black in color handgun.  Suspect assaulted one employee, then pointed to the cash drawers and was given an undisclosed amount of cash.  Suspect described as a black male, 5’6” to 6’ tall, wearing a fleece camo jacket, camo face mask, thick sunglasses, dark pants and military style boots.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary and robbery that occurred in the 4300 block of Martinsburg Pike on May 21, 2009.  The victim reported that an unknown subject entered his bedroom, shined a flashlight in his eyes and asked him for money.  The victim pressed the button on his Life Alert device and the subject fled the residence.  Several items were taken, including some change and the victim’s wallet containing cash, credit cards, and personal identification.

Winchester Crime of the Week – May 25, 2009

Location:  900 block of S. Braddock St

Type of Crime:  Breaking and Entering

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary and vandalism at Weber’s Nursery, located at 937 Martinsburg Pike  On April 14, 2009, the victim reported that upon opening the business, it was discovered that unknown suspect(s) had forcibly gained entry by cutting a hole in the roof area of one of the bays.  Once inside, suspect(s) attempted to open the floor safe by cutting off part of the hinges.  Nothing was reported missing, but extensive damage was done to the roof, an office door and the floor safe.

Winchester Crime of the Week – May 11, 2009

 

Location:    Suntrust Bank,

1738 Amherst St

Incident:     Robbery

 

At approximately 10:20 am on May 4, 2009 the Winchester Police Department responded to a report of a Robbery at the Sun Trust Bank located at

1738 Amherst Street
in the City of Winchester.  The bank reported that a black male entered the bank and presented a note which demanded money.  The teller complied and the suspect left with an undisclosed amount of money.  No weapon was displayed during the incident.  The suspect then left the front entrance and fled southeast from the bank on foot.  

 

The suspect is described as: black male, 30’s, 5’7”, 180 pounds and clean shaven.

Winchester Crime of the Week – April 27, 2009

 

Location:    CVS Pharmacy (2207 Valley Ave)

Incident:     Grand Larceny

 

At approximately 9:15 am on April 14, 2009 the Winchester Police Department responded to a report of a shoplifting.  A female and a male entered the store with empty shopping bags.  The suspects filled the bags with numerous cologne and perfume items (approximately $6000 worth) and left the store. 

The suspects are described as: 

Black male, 20-30 years of age, 5’10”-6’2”, medium build, black hair, wearing a dark colored coat, and dark pants.

Winchester Crime of the Week – April 13, 2009

Incident:     Flim Flam Scam

 

On March 14, 2009 The Winchester Police Department responded for a report of a scam.  A male purchased a small item and gave the cashier a $100 bill.  The suspect confused the cashier by asking her questions and for directions to Manassas during the transaction and got all his money back plus his change.  The suspect is described as a black male approximately 30 years of age, 5’7”, 150 lbs, and wearing a black and white striped polo shirt.  He was accompanied by another black male.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - April 6, 2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary and grand larceny in the 100 block of Geronimo Trail on March 22, 2009.  Unknown suspect(s) forcibly entered the residence by prying open the front screen door and main door.  The entire residence had been ransacked and nine guns, valued at more than $3,000.00, were taken from a gun cabinet which had also been forced open.  Nothing else appears to have been taken.

Winchester Crime of the Week – March 30, 2009

Location:  700 block of Kennedy Dr

Incident:   Attempted Armed Robbery

 

At approximately 5:30 pm on March 24, 2009 the Winchester Police Department responded to a report of an attempted robbery in the 700 block of Kennedy Drive in the City of Winchester.  The male victim reported that while walking in the area, he was approached by a young male who asked to borrow money.  The victim stated he didn’t have any money.  The male suspect then pointed a black object at him, which the victim believed to be a knife.  The victim then began to run back toward his residence with the male suspect chasing him.  The victim attempted to solicit help from a passerby in a green vehicle, however, the male suspect confused the passerby into thinking he was the victim.  The male victim then ran to his residence and contacted police.  The suspect was last seen in the back yard of a residence in the 800 block of Kennedy Drive. 

The male suspect is described as black, 16 years of age, clean shaven, a gold earring in each ear.  He was wearing black pants and a black shirt at the time of the incident.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - March 23, 2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating a burglary and grand larceny at Redland United Methodist Church at 6450 North Frederick Pike.  A Deputy responding to an alarm sounding at that location discovered an open door on the lower level of the church.  The Deputy made contact with a church officer who responded and conducted an inventory.  The only item reported missing was a safe containing $4,117 in cash and checks.

Winchester Crime of the Week - March 16, 2009

 

Location:    Best Value Inn, 2649 Valley Avenue

Incident:     Armed Robbery

At approximately 1:00 am on March 4, 2009 the Winchester Police Department responded to a report of an Armed Robbery of a cab driver at the Best Valu Inn located at 2649 Valley Avenuein the City of Winchester.  The cab driver reported that he picked up two black males in the 700 block of S. Braddock Streetand transported them to the parking lot of the Best Valu Inn.  Once there, the male sitting in the front seat displayed a gun and demanded the cab driver’s money.  The male sitting in the back seat grabbed the cab driver to prevent his movement.  The cab driver complied and gave the males an undisclosed amount of money.  The suspects then fled on foot traveling westbound behind Best Valu Inn. 

The suspects are described as:  

1st suspect - Black male, 20-25 years of age, 5’10”, medium build, black hair, wearing a dark colored hooded coat, tennis shoes, and dark pants.

2nd suspect - Black male, 6’0”, wearing a white coat

Frederick County Crime of the Week - March 9, 2009

 

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the strong armed robbery of Backstage Video, located at 261 Sunnyside Plaza Drive.  On February 17, 2009, as the victim was leaving the business to make bank deposits, he was accosted by a lone male, who attempted to grab the bags.  The suspect pushed the victim backward, grabbed one of the bags and fled in an unknown direction.  The suspect is described as 5’10”, average build, 20’s to 30’s, dark hair cut short, several days growth of beard, wearing dark pants with a large wallet chain hanging from it, and a blue satin finish parka with orange lining and fur around the hood.

At approximately 10:00 am on February 21, 2009 the Winchester Police Department responded to a report of a robbery at the United Bank located at 1041 Berryville Avenuein the City of Winchester.  The suspect is described as a white male, 6’0 tall, approximately 30 - 40 years of age, 175 – 190 pounds, reddish brown mustache and beard, wearing a white t-shirt, an dark colored coat, blue jeans, baseball hat, and dark sunglasses over prescription glasses.

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the armed robbery of the Mohawk Motel located at 2754 Northwestern Pike on February 4, 2009.  The victim reported that he had two unknown suspects, both wearing black masks, entered the motel.  One of the suspects produced a shotgun and demanded money.  The clerk opened the cash register and the armed suspect took the money from the drawer.  Both suspects then fled on foot.

Frederick County Crime of the Week - Febuary 9, 2009

The Frederick County Sheriff’s Office is investigating the larceny of a 2005 Honda Rancher ATV, green in color.  The victim reported the vehicle was stolen from the 100 block of Old Dominion Drive between January 12 and January 13, 2009.  The vehicle was later recovered in the victinity.  The ignition to the vehicle had been cut, and cargo bags had been ransacked. Winchester Crime of the Week - January 19,2009 

 

Date of Crime:  December 31, 2008
Location:  Bond Street

Type of Crime:  Breaking and Entering 

  On December 31, 2008 a female reported that an intoxicated male entered her unsecured residence.  The resident, who was awake at the time, began to yell at the suspect and a physical altercation ensued.  The resident’s son heard the struggle and tried to intervene by chasing the male out of the residence.  Her son restrained the male outside of the residence until the suspect stated he had a gun.  At that time, he released the suspect.  The suspect was last seen fleeing on foot towards Loudoun Street.. 

The suspect is described as:  Black male, 20-30 years of age, 6’0, medium build, light complexion, short black hair, facial stubble and wearing blue jeans and a gray jacket with black lining and fur around the hood.

Winchester Crime of the week - January 5, 2009

 

Date of Crime:  January 2, 2009
Location:  1600 block of  South Braddock St
Type of Crime:  Strong Arm Robbery 

Around 10:20 p.m. the victim was approached by a man and a woman he didn’t know.  The couple asked the victim if he had a lighter and then the male suspect assaulted the victim.  The female suspect then grabbed the victim’s wallet from his pocket and the couple fled. The suspects were last seen running north on Braddock and then west onto Lambden Avenue..

The suspects are described as:

Black male, 5’10”, wearing a white hooded sweatshirt and jeans
